Extract vs. Split
Extract Pages and Split PDF overlap in capability, but they're optimized for different workflows. Split is for dividing one PDF into many; Extract is for picking a specific subset into one new PDF. If you're assembling a custom report from a source document — say, page 1 (cover), pages 5-7 (financial summary) and page 12 (signature page) — Extract is the right tool. If you're chopping a 100-page book into 100 one-page PDFs for archival, Split is faster.
Extract is also the right choice when you want to reorder pages. By listing pages in a non-sequential order (say, 5, 1, 3, 2, 4), you produce a new PDF with that exact page sequence — handy when you need to move a cover page or push a summary to the front.
While we finalize this tool, you can achieve the same result with Split PDF (split into individual pages) followed by Merge PDF (combine the parts in your chosen order). It's a couple of extra steps but works today.
