Trimming before you share

Removing pages before sharing is a privacy and clarity best practice. A 50-page contract you only need to send 3 pages of? Delete the rest. A scanned document with blank backsides from the duplex feed? Delete them. A report with the salary page appended? Definitely delete that before it goes to the broader team.

Page numbering is the main thing to get right. Always check the actual page numbers in the PDF viewer, not the printed page numbers on the bottom of each page — they're often different (cover pages, unnumbered sections, roman numerals in prefaces all offset the count). The tool will use the actual physical page numbers in the file.

If you're unsure which pages to delete, use Split PDF to break the document into single pages first. Then you can scan through them and re-merge only the ones you want to keep — a more deliberate workflow that's harder to mess up.
