Capturing web content as PDF

Converting HTML to PDF is the right tool for a few specific workflows: archiving web content for offline reference, generating print-ready PDFs from HTML templates (invoices, reports, certificates), saving articles for offline reading, and capturing the visual state of a webpage at a point in time. The PDF is portable, viewable everywhere, and doesn't depend on the live web to render.

The conversion preserves the visual layout — CSS styling, fonts, images, page structure all render into the PDF the same way they render in a browser. The main limitation is JavaScript: dynamic content that requires JS to render won't appear in the PDF unless the JS has already run on the source. For static content (most articles, most templates, most archived pages), this isn't a problem; for single-page-app content, you'd need to pre-render first.

For users with HTML report templates (a weekly analytics report, an invoice template, a product spec), this tool converts the rendered HTML directly to PDF — no need to maintain a separate PDF template. Edit the HTML, regenerate the PDF, share. The HTML remains the source of truth, and the PDF is just a delivery format.
