Going deeper

Beyond summary, into analysis

Document summaries answer 'what does this say?'. Document insights answer 'what does this mean?' — surfacing patterns, themes, and relationships that aren't visible from a close reading of any single document. For a corpus of customer feedback, insights might show which complaints cluster together, which features drive positive sentiment, and which themes correlate with churn. For a set of research papers, insights might surface the field's evolving concerns, recurring methodological debates, and under-examined questions.

The analytical operations are: topic extraction (what themes recur, with what weight), sentiment analysis (which sections read positively, neutrally, negatively), named entity recognition (people, organizations, places, dates, products mentioned), and cross-document comparison (where documents agree, where they diverge, what's unique to each). Each operation adds a layer of analysis that goes beyond summary.

For research workflows — literature reviews, competitive analysis, customer feedback analysis, content audits — this kind of thematic analysis turns a corpus of documents from a wall of text into a structured map. The AI doesn't replace careful reading; it makes careful reading more targeted, by pointing you at the documents and themes that matter most for your question.
